The Google algorithm is very complex. It can be hard for any SEO professional to understand the standards that Google sets in order for websites to show up in the top of the search results on the first page. Google uses about 200 unique factors for ranking websites in their search engine. The top 3 factors are possibly RankBrain, content, and backlinks. Unfortunately, Google does not make it easy for people to figure out these factors because they have not officially confirmed which factors have the greatest impact on ranking. They do it this way on purpose so that SEO professionals do not take advantage of the system and manipulate it so that their websites get on top of the results. That is also why there is no set pattern for these factors.

Two Google employees named John Mueller and Gary Illyes had made a comment on Twitter about how the top 3 factors for Google ranking change according to the various search queries made. This is supposed to allow users to find interesting and relevant content which is influenced by what they search for. In other words, if internet content is created that is relevant to the search queries that people make, then this content will show up on the top of the search results pages.

You might be worried if your website doesn’t have any backlinks. Even if it doesn’t, your website will still rank high as long as the content is relevant. Google doesn’t factor in the backlinks when it compares the content to the relevance of the search queries. With that being said, it doesn’t hurt to have backlinks because it helps keep your website indexed in the search engine results.

Overall, when you create content for a website, it should cater more to your target audience rather than the algorithm of Google. With these new search query standards, your target audience is bound to find your website anyway if your content matches what they’re searching for.
